Travel Rule Policy

This Travel Rule Policy establishes the procedures adopted by Coin Pro (FSP 54194) to comply with the Financial Action Task Force ("FATF") Recommendation 16, the South African Financial Intelligence Centre Act ("FIC Act"), Directive 9, and other applicable regulatory requirements relating to Crypto Asset Service Providers ("CASPs").

What is the Travel Rule?

This policy explains what information may be required when customers buy or sell crypto assets through Coin Pro and receive crypto assets to a verified wallet.

The Travel Rule requires Crypto Asset Service Providers to collect, verify, retain, and, where applicable, transmit certain information about the sender and receiver of crypto asset transfers. This helps improve transparency and reduce the risk of crypto assets being used for money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, sanctions evasion, or other unlawful activity.

How Coin Pro Processes Transactions

Coin Pro enables customers to buy and sell crypto assets using fiat currency.

Buying Crypto Assets (Fiat to Crypto)

In a typical purchase transaction:

  • The customer sends fiat funds from their verified bank account to Coin Pro.
  • Coin Pro obtains the requested crypto asset through approved liquidity providers.
  • The crypto asset is transferred to Coin Pro’s operational wallet.
  • Coin Pro sends the crypto asset to the customer’s verified wallet.

Selling Crypto Assets (Crypto to Fiat)

In a typical sale transaction:

  • The customer sends crypto assets from their verified wallet to a wallet designated by Coin Pro.
  • Coin Pro transfers the crypto assets to approved liquidity providers for conversion into fiat currency.
  • Coin Pro receives the fiat proceeds from the transaction.
  • Coin Pro sends the fiat funds to the customer's verified bank account.

Coin Pro does not provide long-term custody of customer assets. Crypto assets and fiat funds are processed solely for the purpose of executing customer transactions and settling completed orders. Customers may only send crypto assets from verified wallets and may only receive fiat payouts to verified bank accounts registered in their own name.

Customer Verification

Before using Coin Pro, customers must complete identity verification.

Coin Pro may require customers to provide:

  • Full legal name;
  • Identity document;
  • Proof of address;
  • Date of birth;
  • Contact details;
  • Bank account information;
  • Additional information where required by law or risk assessment.

Coin Pro may use trusted third-party verification providers to verify customer identity, documents, liveness, device information, IP address, sanctions status, and other compliance-related information.

Wallet Verification

Coin Pro only sends crypto assets to wallets that have been verified. Customers may be asked to confirm that a wallet belongs to them or provide additional information about the wallet. Coin Pro may use third-party wallet verification and blockchain analytics providers to confirm wallet ownership, assess wallet risk, and screen wallets for sanctions or other prohibited activity.

Information Required for Crypto Transfers

Depending on the transaction, Coin Pro may collect and retain:

  • Customer full name;
  • Customer identification details;
  • Customer residential address or date of birth;
  • Wallet address;
  • Transaction reference or blockchain transaction ID;
  • Beneficiary name, where applicable;
  • Beneficiary wallet or service provider details, where applicable;
  • Purpose of transaction, where required.

Transfers to Self-Hosted Wallets

If a customer requests a transfer to a self-hosted wallet, the customer may be required to confirm that they control the wallet. Coin Pro may delay or decline a transfer if wallet ownership cannot be verified or if the wallet presents an unacceptable compliance risk.

Delays, Holds, or Rejections

Coin Pro may delay, place on hold, reject, or refuse to process a transaction where:

  • Required Travel Rule information is missing or incomplete;
  • Customer identity cannot be verified;
  • Wallet ownership cannot be verified;
  • The wallet or counterparty presents a high compliance risk;
  • Sanctions, fraud, or suspicious activity indicators are identified;
  • Coin Pro is required to do so by law or by a competent authority.

Customers may be asked to provide additional information before a transaction is processed.

Record Keeping

Coin Pro retains customer verification, wallet verification, transaction, and Travel Rule information for the period required by applicable law.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers may only use bank accounts and crypto wallets that are owned or controlled by them, unless otherwise approved by Coin Pro and permitted by applicable law. Providing false, misleading, or incomplete information may result in transaction delays, account restrictions, or termination of services.

Changes to This Policy

Coin Pro may update this Travel Rule Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, regulation, technology, or business operations. The latest version will be available on the Coin Pro website.
